Commissioners meet today on fire funding, tax increase
Cumberland County commissioners are expected to hear about a proposal today that would increase funding to fire departments by raising taxes in fire districts by 3.75 cents per $100 in property.The commissioners’ meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Room 564 of the courthouse.The county’s Public Safety Task Force voted last week to support the proposal, which would raise the fire tax to 15 cents per $100 in property.
