Cumberland commissioners approve move of Ruth exhibit to Segra Stadium
Cumberland County commissioners voted Monday to loan an exhibit commemorating Babe Ruth’s first home run to Fayetteville so it can be displayed at the new Segra Stadium in downtown.Ruth hit his first professional home run in Fayetteville on March 7, 1914. He was on his way to spring training in Florida with the Baltimore Orioles.The home run is recognized on a Historical Marker near the intersection of Gillespie Street and Southern Avenue.A commemorative display […]
