White House quietly threatened to veto spending legislation over ‘Dreamers’ issue
A provision in Congress’ year-end spending bill would have allowed so-called ‘Dreamers’ to be employed by the House. But at the last minute, the White House demanded its removal, threatening a veto, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) agreed.
