House passes short-term spending bill to avert Friday shutdown
Facing a Thursday midnight deadline when government funding runs out, the House passes a short-term spending bill extending funding until Dec. 20. The legislation would avert a shutdown. It must still be passed by the Senate and signed by President Trump.
