Memorial Day marked the 17th anniversary of the original loss of Hope Mills Lake in 2003.A torrential rainfall poured down overnight. The earthen part of the dam gave way. The strong current of rushing water took out a portion of the Lakeview Road bridge.Hope Mills Lake had always been an integral part of the mill village.
