Until a few weeks ago, the World War II helmet had been an unremarkable part of the Airborne & Special Operations Museum’s collection.Now, it’s part of the museum’s commemoration of the 75th anniversary of D-Day.The helmet, which is displayed in the museum’s World War II section, belonged to 1st Lt. Thomas U. Johnson, a doctor in the 101st Airborne Division’s 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment. He jumped into France on D-Day. […]
