House OKs red light cameras for Hope Mills, Spring Lake
Legislation to bring red light cameras to Hope Mills and Spring Lake this year passed the state House on Thursday afternoon by a vote of 93-15.Drivers caught on camera running red lights would be fined $100 as of Oct. 1 if the cameras are installed by then.The fines would be given to the Cumberland County Board of Education because, under the North Carolina Constitution, cities and towns are not allowed to keep the money from traffic tickets.
