Fairmont firefighter hit by pickup truck
FAIRMONT — A firefighter from Fairmont was struck by a pickup truck Thursday morning while he was directing traffic around another crash, the N.C. Highway Patrol reported.The firefighter, 42-year-old James Thompson, was taken to a hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening, said Trooper Eric Mellott, a spokesman for the Highway Patrol.The crash happened on N.C. 41 near Turkey Branch Road, Mellott said.
