RALEIGH — Lawmakers on Thursday morning will unveil “Conner’s Law” that will enhance penalties for assaults on law enforcement officers and increase death benefits paid to the families of fallen officers.Trooper Kevin Conner, 38, a Bladenboro native, was gunned down Oct. 17 along U.S. 7011 about 20 miles from Whiteville as he was conducting a traffic stop near Sellers Town Road in Columbus County.
