The 41-year-old chief of police, shot once in the left temple with his .45-caliber pistol, was found sprawled on his back on a bed in Room 401 of the Prince Charles Hotel.The bullet left his head behind his right ear before piercing through a pillow and one of the two mattresses on the bed.
