Fayetteville fire chief receives statewide award
Fayetteville Fire Department Chief Benjamin Major has been given a statewide award that each year recognizes one fire chief in North Carolina for the outstanding job he or she has done.Major, who has been with the department for 35 years, was awarded the North Carolina Career Fire Chief of the Year Award on Feb 2 at the North Carolina Fire Chief’s Conference in Concord.Major, 57, who is scheduled to retire March 1, said it’s the first time he’s won the award.
