Smithfield man killed in U.S. 301 crash south of Fayetteville
A Smithfield man was killed Thursday on U.S. 301, south of Fayetteville, when his car crashed into a tractor trailer that had momentarily stopped while crossing the road, the Highway Patrol said.The wreck happened about 6 a.m. near Sanders Street, between Tom Starling Road and Brooklyn Circle, according to Trooper R.J.
