Retired Supreme Court justice Sandra Day O’Connor announces she is withdrawing from public life because of dementia
In a letter, O’Connor, the first woman to have served on the high court, said she had been diagnosed “some time ago” with the beginning stages of dementia — “probably Alzheimer’s.”
