Eight-year-old boy could be first NC flu-related death this year
An 8-year-old Davidson County boy died Wednesday in what could be North Carolina’s first official flu-related death of the season. Zak Edwards, a Pilot Elementary School student, was taken to the pediatric intensive care unit after he went into respiratory distress and fell unconscious after a baseball game Oct. 18, according to online posts made by family and friends.
