1. Festival of Yesteryear: The annual festival is Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Arsenal Park on the grounds of the Museum of the Cape Fear Historical Complex. It features games, exhibits, demonstrations, costumed re-enactors and period music. The festival also will host the birthday cake cutting for the Lafayette Society’s annual “Lafayette Birthday Celebration.” Cake and ice cream will be served at 1 p.m. while supplies last.
