Red Springs barn fire kills 8 horses; 8 others survive
RED SPRINGS — Eight horses housed in a Robeson County barn died Sunday when the barn caught fire.Another eight were rescued at the Heritage Park Training Facility on Jockey Lane, off Mount Zion Church Road. The fire was reported at 9:41 p.m., said Chief John Ammons of the Red Springs Fire Department, and is believed to have been caused by an electrical malfunction with fans used to keep the horses cool.The facility is about five miles south of Red Springs, Ammons said.
