Opioid crisis putting more NC kids in foster care
A soaring number of children are living in foster care in North Carolina because their parents are abusing alcohol, opioids and other drugs and cannot afford treatment, according to a new report.The nonprofit advocacy group NC Child found that 39 percent of children entered the state’s foster care system in fiscal 2016-17 because of parental substance abuse and other contributing factors.
