Train breakdown blocks Whitfield crossing
A train breakdown blocked the Whitfield Street rail crossing for a couple of hours Tuesday.The problem with the CSX freight train was traced to engine issues with the locomotive that was pulling the train to Rocky Mount, a CSX spokeswoman said.A service team from the CSX Transporation Office in Fayetteville got a working locomotive for the train and pulled the train off the rail crossing by 4 p.m.Drivers used the MLK Freeway as an alternate route.
