Rowan Street bridge opening delayed a week
The opening of the new Rowan Street bridge has been postponed by one week, state transportation officials said Thursday.Due to a delay in receiving material needed for the bridge joints, the contractor notified the North Carolina Department of Transportation that the bridge now will open on June 5.The Transportation Department previously had said the bridge would open to traffic on Tuesday, six months ahead of schedule.The $24.3 million project is still ahead of schedule.
