New Hanover Schools closing May 16 for teachers march
WILMINGTON — New Hanover County Schools will close Wednesday, May 16, to allow teachers to attend the N.C. Association of Educators’ announced advocacy day to call for higher teacher pay and additional school funding.The decision comes after more than 600 teachers asked for the day off, according to the release, leaving more than 200 classrooms unfilled once the substitute pool is exhausted.
